A five-minute triage

  1. Does every file fail, or one file? One file → copy + Open and Repair. Every file → app/OS.
  2. Update from wps.com or the store you actually installed from. Mixed channels cause ghost icons.
  3. Try a new blank file. If blank works, your document is the patient.
  4. Disable antivirus real-time scan on the WPS folder temporarily as a test, then add a proper exclusion.
  5. Rename the Kingsoft config folder after backup if startup is corrupt.

Garbled CJK or Arabic

Install the writing fonts and the correct keyboard. “Garbled” is almost always a font or encoding, not a broken WPS binary.

Kingsoft help center and in-app customer service can take region, user id, version, and a recording. This independent site cannot reset your account.

Ads, pop-ups, and “it feels hijacked”

Free skins show banners. If the browser home page changed or a second toolbar appeared after install, you used a mirror. Uninstall, scan, fetch from wps.com. Safety · Uninstall.

Print Preview fine, paper wrong

Paper size, scaling, and a geriatric printer driver. Walk printing before you reinstall Writer.

OneDrive or Drive “in use” errors

Close the file on the phone. Wait for the sync icon. Do not keep three clients on one folder. Drive apps · sync.

File associations after uninstall

Windows remembers WPS for PDF and DOCX until you pick a new default. Clean uninstall.
