PDF

PDF is how you freeze a layout. It is not a backup of an editable thesis.

WPS can export Writer documents (and sheets, decks) to PDF. Do the boring checks first or you will freeze a broken table forever.

PDF export tools in WPS

The happy path

  1. Print Preview. If a heading is orphaned, fix it in the DOCX.
  2. Embed fonts if the file uses anything beyond Arial/Calibri/Times.
  3. File → Export / Save as PDF (label varies).
  4. Open the PDF in WPS PDF and scroll every page once.
  5. Keep the DOCX. The PDF is the freeze copy, not the master.

Hyperlinks and bookmarks

Heading styles become PDF bookmarks in many builds. Fake headings (just bold 16 pt) do not. Click a table-of-contents line in the PDF; if it goes nowhere, you used fake headings. Layout fixes.

Accessibility

A tagged PDF is kinder to screen readers. WPS export quality varies by version. If a disability office requires a tagged PDF from Word, produce it in Word. Do not argue with a campus policy using a blog.

Sheets and slides

Spreadsheets to PDF: set print area, fit to width, check page breaks. A 40-column dump as 40 pages of 2-point type is not a report. Presentation to PDF: you lose animation. That is the point for a handout.

The other direction
