Keep the slide master boring
Edit the master once. Do not hand-nudge every title. When the deck later opens in PowerPoint, master-based layouts survive; artisanal text boxes drift.
Fonts and pictures
Embed fonts for a client pitch. Compress images before you mail a 400 MB file. Missing fonts on the conference PC is still the number-one “the design broke” cause.
AI slides
WPS AI can turn a paragraph into a deck. Treat that as a skeleton: fix claims, drop clip-art energy, and put the real chart in. Never present an AI deck you have not read aloud.
Presenter view and video
Test presenter view on the actual adapter you will use. HDMI + a school projector is where animations stutter. Export a PDF spare. If the room PC has no WPS, PDF plus a local PPTX is the belt and braces kit.
Repairing a broken PPTX
WPS documents repair tools for corrupted presentations. Work on a copy. If only one slide is cursed, copy survivors into a new file rather than fighting the XML.
Speaker notes and timing
Write notes in the notes pane, not on the slide. Rehearse with the timer once. A 12-slide deck that takes 40 minutes is a speech, not a pitch. If WPS presenter view is flaky on a school adapter, use the PDF spare and talk from paper notes.
Charts from Spreadsheets
Paste as an embedded chart or as a picture. Pictures do not update when the sheet changes — that is a feature on presentation day. Embedded charts can break if the XLSX is missing on the room PC. For a client pitch, a picture of a checked chart is calmer. Sheets · WPS AI.
Video and sound
Embedded video is how decks die on a projector PC with no codecs. Link a local MP4 on a USB, or drop the clip and describe it. Test the actual HDMI cable. Export PDF as the spare. Printing handouts.
Templates and campus branding
Department colour is usually a locked master. Do not override it with a Premium “creative” pack the night before. Template gallery · Teachers.
